The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel becomes a gateway where Mumbai breathes in and speaks out. Standing by the sea, it turns arrivals into stories. In this series MF Husain turns that doorway into a language of welcome told through line, colour, and symbol.
In the first panelGanga pours water while a rocket, a planet, and E = mc² rise beside musicians and city beams. Meaning is clear. Knowledge and hospitality grow together. Red sets the festival pitch, gold gives dignity, and blue cools the scene.
The second panel moves with horses rushing across the field. The Sun God glows behind them and keeps time like a harbour clock. A figure crowned in blue lifts a hand as conductor. The city beats with enterprise and grace.
The third panel gathers strength and joy. A tower anchors memoryTiger, peacock, and cranes embody identity and migration. At the centre, a couple steps forward with open arms, an image of iconic Bollywood, the heart of Mumbai. The Ashoka Chakra and a bird with a leaf promise ideals and peace.
This is Husain’s gift. He shows a city in motion, bright with colour, tradition, imagination, and welcome.
