Horse II by MF Husain

3475, Horse II - Green, 31 x 41 in, Serigraph on Paper, Limited Edition of 125, 2000, LR in English (Pencil Signed)
The first glance at M. F. Husain’s Horse II feels like stepping into a storm of movement. Horses in shades of green, blue and white charge across the paper, their bodies caught in an energetic rhythm. Husain’s bold lines guide the eye swiftly, as if the image were drawn in one breath.
The core energy of the work lies in this contrast between control and freedom. The horses do not simply exist; they collide, leap and surge, carrying with them the unstoppable pulse of life. In the corner, the round blue sphere with the blessing hand emerges as a quiet counterpoint. This iconography, a Husain hallmark, tempers the force of the scene with an element of grace and continuity.
The colours and their vibe create a balance of urgency and calm. The vibrant greens suggest vitality, the blues carry depth, while the greys and whites provide stillness amid chaos.
This is more than an image of animals. It is a powerful visual narrative, where line, colour and symbol come together to speak of freedom, force and the eternal spirit that Husain sought throughout his life’s work.
