Ganesha on White Bull by MF Husain

1207, Asthavinayak, 14 x 20 in, Reproduction on Paper, Limited Edition of 500, 1998, LR in English (Pencil Signed)
Here, Ganesha appears on Mount Kailash, riding a majestic white bull. The mouse is replaced with a figure of strength and stamina, set against ridges of blue peaks and a hovering orb that reads as the moon of eternal rhythm. The god feels both intimate and vast, guardian of hearth and horizon.
Husain balances sharp diagonals of the mountains with the rounded forms of bull and deity, creating calm within grandeur. Watercolour spreads in blue washes, peaks dissolving into airy sky. The bull glows in white purity, while greens and yellows warm Ganesha’s form, a flame of life within snow.
The raised hand becomes a gesture of guardianship, a blessing that travels across mountains. The energy is expansive yet approachable. What endures is awe that comforts, a reminder that Ganesha belongs as much to sacred peaks as to our homes.
